What is the PTO?

The PTO stands for Parent Teacher Organization and it is a volunteer-led organization that brings families, staff, and community members together to support STEM Lab students and strengthen our school community.

Who can participate in the PTO?

Everyone is welcome! All STEM Lab parents, guardians, caregivers, teachers, and staff members are encouraged to contribute in whatever way works for them by sharing their time, talents, or treasures.

Do I have to become a member?

No membership is required. If you are part of the STEM Lab community, you are already welcome to attend meetings, volunteer, share ideas, and participate in PTO activities.

Is the PTO a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization?

Yes! STEM Lab School PTO is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Eligible donations may be tax-deductible, and we can provide a donation acknowledgment letter for your records upon request via our 'Contact Us' form. Please consult a tax professional regarding your individual eligibility.

When and where are PTO meetings held?

Meetings featured topics and general agendas are posted on our website under 'About Us' ➜ 'Monthly Meetings'. You can also find the meeting dates on our 'Calendar'.

Do I have to attend every meeting?

Not at all! Attend whenever your schedule allows. Each meeting includes different topics, presentations, grade-level spotlights, and opportunities to connect. Meetings are also live streamed via Google Meet. (Link can be found on our website under 'About Us' ➜ 'Monthly Meetings')

Can children attend PTO meetings?

Yes! Families are welcome. We offer free childcare at every meeting. 

How can I volunteer?

Visit the 'Get Involved' section of our website to view current needs and to sign up. Opportunities range from helping at a single event to joining a committee or serving on the board.

Can I volunteer if I have limited time?

Absolutely. We offer one-time, at-home, daytime, evening, and ongoing opportunities. Even one hour can make a difference!

Do I need special experience to volunteer?

No experience is necessary. We provide the information and support you need for each role.

How does the PTO raise money?

Funds are raised through our annual fundraiser, community business partnerships, dine-outs, community nights, grocery rewards programs, employer matching, and other passive support programs. Visit 'Ways to Support' on our website for more information.

Where does the money go?

PTO funds support student programs, classroom and staff needs, school events, grants, educational resources, community-building activities, and other priorities that benefit the STEM Lab community.
