SUBJECT: PTO Press-April 2026

Deadline Is Approaching!
We’re trying real hard not to enter our “big ideas, but no humans to manage them” era, so we need a few awesome people to step into our open PTO board roles for 2026–2027 and help keep the fun, support, and good stuff at STEM Lab going strong.

It’s a great way to support your children and our school, meet amazing people, work closely with admin, and be part of the magic behind the scenes. We are ready to support you in your next journey for and alongside your kids. ✨
Click on the images to learn more about each position. Know someone perfect? OR want to nominate yourself? Fill out [THIS FORM] and we’ll take it from there. Nominations open until April 12th! Nominees will be announced April 14th and voting will take place between April 15th - April 21st.
Traditions and Tributes
April Reflections

by Vita Malama (Cultural Appreciation Coordinator)

In April, many families observe traditions connected to faith, renewal, and belonging. These may include Arab American Heritage Month, which recognizes the histories, cultures, and contributions of Arab American communities; Passover, a Jewish religious tradition commemorating liberation and resilience; Easter, a Christian religious tradition celebrating renewal and hope; and Earth Day, a global observance focused on care for the planet and shared responsibility. At STEM Lab, care for land and environment is an ongoing practice, aligning with Indigenous teachings that emphasize reciprocal relationships with land and water—principles long upheld by the Cheyenne, Arapaho, and Ute Nations and peoples whose homelands the school occupies.

If you have an upcoming tradition or observance that is meaningful to your family—or if we missed one—we’d love to hear from you. Please email us at pto.stemlab@gmail.com or simply reply to this newsletter.

Native Land Acknowledgement

As part of our ongoing practice at STEM Lab, we honor and acknowledge that the land we are located on today is the traditional and ancestral homelands of the Cheyenne, Arapaho, and Ute Nations and peoples. Many different Native tribes have used this land for trade, hunting, gathering, and healing. We extend our respect to Elders past, present, and future, and to all those who have stewarded the land and water since time immemorial. We invite others to join us in this acknowledgment to renew and reaffirm First Nations’ history in Colorado and to pay tribute to these traditional homelands and their people.
