March is a month when many families observe traditions related to renewal, balance, and reflection. Traditions and recognitions that may be acknowledged include Women’s History Month, which honors the contributions and leadership of women across cultures and history; Nowruz, the Persian New Year celebrated by many cultures as a time of renewal and new beginnings; Holi, a Hindu tradition welcoming spring and emphasizing joy and togetherness; Ramadan, the Islamic holy month focused on reflection, generosity, and community; White Day, a cultural tradition observed in parts of East Asia that emphasizes appreciation and reciprocity; and the Spring Equinox, observed across cultures as a marker of balance between light and darkness.
Seasonal change is also understood in many Indigenous knowledge systems as a time to notice relationships between land, weather, and community, and STEM Lab’s emphasis on observation, inquiry, and connection reflects learning practices long held by the Cheyenne, Arapaho, and Ute Nations and peoples.
If you have an upcoming tradition or observance that is meaningful to your family—or if we missed one—we’d love to hear from you. Please email us at pto.stemlab@gmail.com or simply reply to this newsletter.
