PBL Update from Mrs. English

Innovation is on the rise. As we kick off our PBL's this year, take a look at some of the upcoming topics. Calling all parents with expertise or insight in the following areas. Feel free to reach out to Liz English (STEM Coordinator) eng010146@adams12.org if you have ways in which to support our STEM Model. Authentic partnerships with a variety of industry lenses makes a world of a difference when students tackle these complex problems!

1st Grade: Residents of Malley Transitional Care Center need a way to feel connected to the larger community so that they can improve emotional, physical, and intellectual wellbeing.

2nd Grade: Calling all inventors!  Got connections to industries that are exceptionally innovative and forward thinking?  These creative minds are going to "solve for the everyday need."

4th Grade: Their field experience with the First Green Program will help them explore a variety of PBL topics like environmental preservation, machinery, agriculture and seed labs, the math of golf maintenance, and then of course a little putt putt for fun. This opportunity offers so many possibilities of a PBL, can't wait to see what they decide!

5th Grade: Using hydroponics and confirmation-inquiry learning to see how we can use more sustainable agricultural systems! They will be visiting CSU Spur in a couple weeks to explore other renewable and sustainable systems.

7th Grade Social Studies: Connecting how Ancient River Systems have impacted our current state of water usage and to address sustainable solutions for addressing current water scarcity issues.

We know our community is a wealth of expertise and knowledge so let us know how you can help!

Rewind and Reflect
A review of our August events
Back to School Night

We loved seeing so many of you at our table at Back to School Night! Hopefully everyone got to meet their teacher and explore their classrooms. Thank you for all who played Summer Bingo and turned in your cards. The winner of the drawing was Randi B. (2nd Grade) We will have many more opportunities like that this year.

Movie on Wyco

We had our first ever movie in the park, or, 'Movie on Wyco' where we watched the classic Disney movie, Cool Runnings. It started late due to technical difficulties of the company we hired. We sold some concessions and had a local gourmet Kettle Corn company join us. It was very yummy and we encourage you to check them out: (ENTER COMPANY HERE)

Let's just say that if we do this again, we will do it differently. However, once all was said and done it was overall a fun night.

Welcome Back Breakfast

Our Staff Appreciation team put together an awesome spread for the beloved staff members welcoming them back to the new school year. It was a nice surprise. We love spoiling our community!

Kona Ice Dine Out

We started the year off strong with a Kona Ice Dine Out. This is one of the kids' favorite things to see when they walk out those doors. Even though it rained everyone out, we had a good turnout. If you missed them, they will be back at least one more time this year.
